Life of Lake Superior
Hiawatha Interpretive Association partners with Michigan State University Extension of Alger County to provide this free service to an average of 250 youth each summer. Life of Lake Superior is a four-day series of outdoor and environmental education experiences. The events all take place in various locations within Alger County, and utilize the Hiawatha National Forest for four full days of programming. Past programs have included: Pollinators and native plant restoration on Grand Island, Wetland Exploration with kayaking, Tree Identification and understanding tree rings, Pioneer Days with horseback riding and fishing.
